City of Ypsilanti

The Ypsilanti Mayoral race has become a little more crowded.

Community activist Tyrone Bridges filed nominating petitions before today's deadline.

He'll challenge city council member Pete Murdock and Growing Hope Executive Director Amanda Edmonds in the August primary election.

Also filing in Ypsilanti were Nicole Brown and local businessman Steve Pierce, who submitted signatures to run for Ricky Jefferson's Ward One seat.  Jefferson announced last week he would not be seeking re-election.Real estate developer and Thompson Block partner Tyler Weston is running against Brian Robb in the third ward. Weston is running as an independent, and as such he says he doesn't have to file nominating petitions until July.

In Ann Arbor city council races there's only a supplemental filing to tell you about.  Third Ward candidate Sam McMullen submitted more nominating petitions before today's deadline.
