New data from Michigan Medicine shows aggressive social distancing could reduce the number of COVID-19 Cases in University of Michigan hospitals by as much as 65 percent in early May.

Forecasting models from Michigan Medicine clinicians show aggressive and sustained social distancing could greatly reduce the number of people who become infected and signficantly reduce the number of patients who would require hospitlzation for the coronavirus.  The data shows that everyone in the state can help flatten the curve and goes on to say that this behaviour is crucial and not to be taken lightly.

Saying the projections for more cases are “alarming,” Michigan Medicine officials say they have teams working around the clock to plan for a potential surge in patients.

But they add, based on experiences in other countries, the rate of the virus spread or significantly flattening the curve could be possible with the help of the public.
