University Of Michigan Student Government Supports Graduate Employees' Organization Strike

University of Michigan

The University of Michigan’s Central Student Government supports the Graduate Employees’ Organization's decision to continue their strike.

The Central Student Government passed a resolution supporting the strike that demands asymptomatic testing on campus during COVID-19.  Sam Braden is the speaker of the assembly for student government and says they’ve heard from students who want random testing on campus.

Sam Braden: More testing catches more cases, catches outbreaks before it happens. And allows them to be quarantined and less COVID is spread at campus.

Braden says as of now, student government has not received complaints from students who believe campus police officers are over policing when it comes to making sure people follow COVID-19 safety guidelines, which is one of the chief complaints that led to the GEO strike.
