Washtenaw County Business Groups Encourage Residents To Shop Local On Cyber Monday

Nov 30, 2020

As Cyber Monday gets underway, the Ann Arbor Main Street Area Association is encouraging consumers to shop local.

To make it easy for consumers to identify which local shops are offering deals this holidays season, the Ann Arbor Main Street Area Association created a Downtown Holiday Shopping Guide that includes links for online shopping.  Sandra Andrade is the executive director of the association and says consumers should think twice about making all their Cyber Monday purchases on sites like Amazon.

Sandra Andrade: So, changing just 10% of your shopping habits greatly impacts the local economy in a number of positive ways.  It helps keep jobs in the area, helps increase wages and decreases inequality.

Meanwhile, in Ypsilanti, Ypsi Real has also created a holiday shopping guide that connects you with local businesses that offer online shopping.  You can find the Ann Arbor shopping guide by clicking here and Ypsilanti guide here.
