Washtenaw County Businesses Face Challenges In Reopening As Restrictions Begin To Ease

Wiki Commons

As more and more businesses either start re-opening or are getting ready to re-open in Washtenaw County, the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Regional Chamber says they’re seeing trends when it comes to issues those businesses are facing.

Andy LaBarre is the executive vice-president of the chamber and says some business owners are overwhelmed with federal and state guidelines they need to follow to reopen.  So, to help alleviate the stress, the chamber is consolidating that information on its website and even going a step further by outlining county guidelines.

Andy LaBarre: With Washtenaw County, their health department has been, much like the state, very proactive in communication. And that’s the sort of thing we get out to our members in many ways that we can and as frequently as we can.

LaBarre says another issue business owners are facing is not knowing where to purchase newly required equipment, such as plexiglass for check-out areas and Personal Protective Equipment.  And if owners do know where to purchase them, many times the items are out-of-stock.  The chamber is also providing information and suggestions for those issues on its website.
