The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department is warning residents to be on the lookout for a new phone scam. In this latest one, a person calls claiming they're a lawyer trying to collect on a defaulted loan.
They tell victims they'll be arrested if they don't pay it back. The Sheriff's Department reminds residents that loan default does not work that way and tells people to never send money or give out personal information when they are contacted over the phone.
