WEMU Announces Its Lineup for the Art Fair Mainstage

Ypsilanti, MI – WEMU (891.FM), Eastern Michigan University's public radio station, in cooperation with the South University Area Association, Pfizer, and the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs will present four days of live music at the South University Art Fair, July 16 through 19. The stage is located on Church Street at Willard and all performances will be broadcast live on WEMU and webcast at wemu.org.

Headliners for the stage include Bugs Beddow on Wednesday, July 16; Tom Loncaric Swing Orchestra on Thursday, July 17; George Bedard & the Kingpins on Friday, July 18; and Vincent York's New York Force on Saturday, July 19. A complete schedule follows.

Performances Wednesday through Friday begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's shows begin at noon.

"This is a true community partnership," said Mary Motherwell, WEMU's Marketing and Development Director. "WEMU and the South University Area Association split the costs to make this happen and provide the volunteer and staff support necessary to put on an event of this caliber and magnitude. It really is a huge undertaking and we couldn't do it without SUAA, the volunteers from the community, and the City of Ann Arbor. We're glad that this event is so important to so many different organizations - as well as fairgoers and listeners."

The Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs, through the NEW Center, provided a minigrant in support of the performances and broadcast, which is also supported by a community arts grant from Pfizer.

WEMU is a listener-supported, National Public Radio affiliate, with a format of NPR news, information, and cultural programming, jazz, and blues. The station broadcasts to an eight county area including all or part of Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Livingston, Jackson, Lenawee, Monroe, Lucas (OH) and webcasts live, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week at wemu.org.
