Whitmer Wins Democratic Primary In Governor’s Race

Democrat Gretchen Whitmer has defeated two other candidates in the primary and will move on to the November general election. Whitmer recieved the majority of party support in defeating Abdul El-Sayed and Shri Thanedar.

Whitmer will be challenged by Republican Bill Schuette and Libertarian Bill Gelineau.  Schuette, Michigan’s current Attorney General, defeated Lt. Governor Brian Calley, State Senator Patrick Colbeck and Dr. Jim Hines to win the Republican race. Gelineau defeated John J. Tatar in the Libertarian contest.
