WISD: Ypsilanti Community Schools Busses Will Be Ready For First Day Of Classes

Bob Eccles

With the start of classes just a few days away,  Ypsilanti Community Schools would still like to hire  five to seven more bus drivers.

The Washtenaw Intermediate School District handles transportation for Y-C-S students.

WISD Assistant Superintendent Brian Marcel says substitute drivers are ready to step in if needed.

"Those are our normal substitutes that we would use, and they've currently been assigned routes for the first day of school or substitute duties," Marcel says.

Marcel says some of last year's drivers have found higher-paying jobs as the economy picks up.  AAATA's expanded service is also a factor.

The first day of school for most Ypsilanti Community Schools buildings is Tuesday, September 2nd.
