The 89.1 WEMU News team is taking you through the 2022 election cycle with a focus on the pertinent candidate races and ballot issues being decided by voters. WEMU will carry you through the August primaries and November general election with preview stories and features and results and reactions, once the votes are all counted.

A new $180 million bond proposal for the Saline Area School District has passed with 55% of the vote. WEMU’s Taylor Pinson has more.

Democratic Representative Debbie Dingell has been re-elected to an additional two years in office after defeating Republican challenger Whittney Williams. Dingell checked in with WEMU's David Fair to discuss plans for serving the newly-drawn 6th Congressional District.

The results are in, and incumbent Democrat, Jeff Irwin, will serve another term as State Senator. Irwin currently represents the 18th district, but redistricting moves him to the newly drawn 15th district. Irwin joined WEMU's David Fair to discuss his plans for the next four years.

Christopher Taylor has been re-elected as Ann Arbor’s mayor. The Democrat defeated independent candidate Eric Lipson and write-in candidate Dylan Manna, earning a little more than 76% of the vote. WEMU’s Josh Hakala reports.

The chair of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners will soon be working in Lansing. Democrat Sue Shink was elected in the 14th district State Senate race. Shink joined WEMU's David Fair to discuss the wins and priorities as she prepares for a new job.

It was an incumbent sweep Tuesday in the run for the Board of Education of the Ypsilanti Community Schools.

Washtenaw County Voters decided a couple of local judicial races on Tuesday.

When redistricting was finalized, the number of State House districts covering portions of Washtenaw County expanded from four to seven. Prior to this election cycle, those four house districts were all contained within the county borders. Now, several expand beyond Washtenaw County.

There were contested races in all nine districts on the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners. All winners will serve two-year terms.
