With so many people staying home during the pandemic, levels of outdoor activity have been on the increase.  That includes bird watching.  In this week's "Issues of the Environment,"  WEMU's David Fair speaks to Erin Rowan, conservation associate for Audubon Great Lakes, about the growing popularity of bird watching and its impacts on Michigan's bird conservation and environmental protection efforts.

It's very common for birds to accidentally hit the windows of someone's home or workplace, which leaves the birds seriously injured or dead.  It is part of a serious extinction threat to our winged friends.  In this week's "Issues of the Environment," WEMU's David Fair talks to Heidi Trudell from Washtenaw Safe Passage, an organization designed to prevent such accidents from happening.

In this week's installment, WEMU's David Fair looks at how technology will help spare the lives of birds around windmill farms, and better map delicate ecosystems. The guest this week is Russell Conard. Russell is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer for the Washtenaw County start-up company Ornicept.
