Michael Wecht

A holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Ballet, fills the stage with boys and men dancing in roles as familiar as the music by Tchaikovsky.  What is it like to be a male dancer in the ballet?  On this week’s edition of "creative:impact," David Fair and Deb Polich find out when they chat with dancer and actor Michael Wecht, who is appearing in Ballet Chelsea’s production of The Nutcracker, presented with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra this weekend at the Potter Center in Jackson.

Washtenaw County's artistic influence can spread all across the country. One former Ann Arbor resident is a prime example.  In this week's "creative:impact," WEMU's David Fair and Arts Alliance CEO Deb Polich talk to director/choreographer Maija Garcia, who was just appointed director of professional training at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.
