This week, local and state arts leader Omari Rush and WEMU’s Lisa Barry talk with an Ann Arbor artist who uses a variety of mediums to create art of historic Negro League baseball players.  They also talk about several other visual art opportunities in our area.

This week, "Art and Soul" is about the visual arts in our community.  89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry is joined by Omari Rush, executive director of CultureSource and the chair of the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs, and Katie Van Dusen from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.  They talk about a just-released neighborhood arts program focusing on bringing new art to Washtenaw County neighborhoods and giving opportunities to local artists to share their work.

Art comes in many forms.  Some hangs on museum walls to be viewed for centuries. Some is duplicated or turned into posters…and some is sold at auction to collectors.  Then there’s a local artist who creates “unique public art” NOT intended to last long.

We visited with David Zinn  recently as he created one of those amazing pieces of art-with chalk!
