Excessive Heat Warning

The heat wave continues in Washtenaw County, Southeast Michigan, and a majority of the country.  While every summer brings its hot spells, you can expect greater periods of unpredictable and potentially more destructive weather events.  In this week’s edition of "Issues of the Environment," WEMU’s David Fair and University of Michigan professor Dr. Richard Rood explore the adaptive attitudes and actions necessary for our future.

The third day of the annual Ann Arbor Art Fairs is underway. More than 100-thousand people are expected to descend on downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan campus before the day is out.

As WEMU's David Fair reports, visitors today will have to brave the same conditions as the first two days of the fairs.

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning,  to be in effect until 8pm Friday. This warning replaces the earlier heat advisory. That is no longer in effect.
