Michigan beekeepers reported losing almost 2/3 of their hives this past year, while crops dependent on honeybee pollination value about $1 billion per year in our state. Experts are also alarmed by the crash in the Monarch butterfly population, which is jeopardizing one of the most spectacular migrations on earth.
