President Joe Biden is preparing an extensive bill to improve infrastructure and create jobs.  12th District Representative Debbie Dingell advocates passage of the plan.  The Dearborn Democrat joined WEMU's David Fair and also discussed proposed gun control measures and the alarming surge in the number of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.

It's a story no one wants to tell and a story no one wants to hear.  Another teenager lost to suicide.  But, talk we must.  It is essential to healing and serves as the impetus for dealing with the societal issue of rising suicide rates.  On October 19, 2016, a single gunshot rang out.  Days later, Gwendolyn LaCroix had to bury her 17-year old son, Jonah Payne.  The reverberations from that personal earthquake continue to resonate on the emotional Richter scale.

It’s been two months since the country’s longest serving congressman, Michigan’s own John Dingell, passed away.  89.1 WEMU’s Lisa Barry sat down with his wife and the person who currently holds that 12th District Congressional seat Debbie Dingell for an honest and emotional conversation about community, civility, and healing.  


Many emotions are shared in this, the more personal part of the interview.  Congresswoman Dingell begins by talking about her recent remarks about gun ownership before fellow members of Congress.  Then, she shares more about her long relationship with John Dingell, his final days, and the impact he’s had on the country.
