Algae blooms have been problematic in Michigan, especially in Lake Erie.  In this month's "First Friday Focus on the Environment," WEMU's David Fair talks to Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, and Jim Byrum, president of the Michigan Agri-business Association, about ways to keep algae blooms from growing out of control.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but there is an argument to be made that bigger trucks are less harmful to our roads and better for the environment.  Michigan Agri-Business Association President Jim Byrum joins David Fair for that conversation in this week's Issues of the Environment.  Jim explains how Michigan's truck weights help our state remain competitive in the marketplace and reduce wear on roads.

Another summer of algae blooms in Lake Erie further points to the need for Conservationists and Agri-Business to work together. In this month's edition of WEMU's 1st Friday Focus on the Environment, you'll where that's happening in Michigan, and what more needs to be done.
