They call themselves "The Brush Monkeys," and, every year for the past 15 years, they have created art in downtown Ann Arbor business windows hoping to boost local shopping efforts.  Despite the pandemic and more shopping online due to health concerns, the Brush Monkeys still created their annual window displays this year.  WEMU's Lisa Barry talks to one of them, also the co-founder of TreeTown Murals, Mary Thiefels, about this year's effort.

'Tis the season, as they say.  Thanksgiving is around the corner and just a little further down the road we hit the holiday season.  The festive spirit is already growing and you've likely seen that reflected in the windows of a growing number of business is Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County and parts of southeast Michigan.  Much of what you see is the work of a group of local artists that call themselves, the Novemberistas.  Mary Thiefels is owner and founder of TreeTown Murals in Ann Arbor and, whether you know it or not, you've driven by her outdoor murals for years!  In this week's edition of WEMU's "creative:impact," Mary shares the story of the Novemberistas, and more.
