In her first few months in office, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has made infrastructure and clean water among her top priorities.  Whitmer outlines her environmental strategy and budget with 89.1 WEMU's David Fair and Michigan League of Conservation Voters executive director, Lisa Wozniak. 


Democrat Gretchen Whitmer will take the oath of office on Tuesday morning to Michigan's 49th Governor, while Whitmer's running mate, Garlin Gilchrist II, will be sworn-in as Lieutenant Governor.

Bill Gelineau has won the Lerbertarian gubernatorial primary race.  Gelieau defeated John J. Tatar to move on to the November general election. 

There, he’ll face an uphill climb in a race with Democrat Gretchen Whitmer and Republican Bill Schuette. Whitmer and Schuette each won their party’s primary on Tuesday night.

The Republican candidates for governor have been battling it out for months.  There’s more money being spent on the Republican primary than recent years– and it’s being used to help the candidates go after each other.

The economy, roads, education, and insurance were the issues last night at a political debate on Mackinac Island between six Republicans and Democrats running for governor.

Democratic Lieutenant Governor candidate Lisa Brown made a stop in Washtenaw County last weekend to push running mate Mark Schauer's plan to move Michigan forward.

Brown says education is an important issue for the people she spoke with during a visit to Ann Arbor, adding that Governor Rick Snyder has disappointed a lot of people who plan to vote Democratic next time.
