If you want to have a say in deciding Michigan’s next governor, you must register to vote by today.  Governor Rick Snyder is unable to run again due to term limits.  That makes this the first time in eight years Michigan residents have a governor’s ballot without an incumbent.

October 9th is the voter registration deadline for this year's midterm elections, but there's still time to get signed up.  Voter registration events, ballot initiative panels, and upcoming meetings in Ann Arbor government are the topics of discussion in this week's "Civic Matters" with WEMU's David Fair and the CivCity Initiative's Mary Morgan.

Michiganders will head to the voting booths today.  This is when Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians will choose who they want to see represent their party in various races come November.  There could be a higher turnout this year than in the 2014 primary.

The Michigan Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday about whether a redistricting proposal can go on the November ballot.

A ballot measure aimed at improving access to voting was turned over to the Secretary of State Monday.  Monday was the last day for citizen-initiated proposals to amend the state constitution to turn in their signatures for review by the Bureau of Elections.

Ruth Johnson announces reelection bid for Secretary of State

Ruth Johnson will seek another term as Michigan's Secretary of State.

Johnson made the announcement Monday and kicked off a four-stop campaign tour across the state. She says the Secretary of State's office has become more efficient under her direction, largely because of technological improvements.
