The pandemic has impacted all parts of our economy, including the local agricultural community.  But, there are positives that have resulted and reasons for giving thanks, too!  Kim Bayer is owner of Slow Farm in Washtenaw County.  She joined WEMU's David Fair to discuss COVID-19 impacts on local farming for this week's "Issues of the Environment."

As we all continue both personally and in the business world to try and figure out our new reality in light of our current global health crisis, Washtenaw County farmers are also finding ways to respond and grow.  WEMU's Lisa Barry spoke with B Love Davis of White Lotus Farms and Kim Bayer & Kristen Muehlhauser of the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative about their efforts to keep their farms growing during the current health crisis and keep the community connected with healthy, locally-sourced food.

Washtenaw County is home to the only organic, U-pick farm in the state.  Kim Bayer is the owner of Slow Farm in Ann Arbor and serves as Slow Food Governor for the state of Michigan.  In this week's 'Issues of the Environment, she shares her personal passion for organic farming and discusses why the Slow Food movement is vital to our health and our future.
