With the continuing pandemic due to the COVID-19 virus, the upcoming holiday season is likely to look different this year.  Halloween is about three weeks away, and the CDC has already said that in-person trick-or-treating is considered a "high-risk" activity, due to the presence of the virus in the community.

And now, Main Street Ann Arbor has announced the cancellation of the traditional, downtown business trick-or-treating event this year.  WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with the organization's executive director, Sandra Andrade, about that and other community activities that will still be taking place, mostly online.

City of Ypsilanti

Ypsilanti’s City Council will begin discussing Tuesday night how the city wants to plan for trick or treating this year during COVID-19.

A little rain might be the least of your worries during trick-or-treating this evening.

DTE Energy warns of the potential for high winds, and suggests people who will be out trick-or-treating this evening get their goodie-grabbing done earlier rather than later, when winds will pick up.

High winds can lead to downed power lines.

DTE spokesperson Erica Donerson  says if you come across a downed power line, stay away from it.

She says if the winds become strong in your area, it may be better to stay inside rather than risk coming across a downed power line.
