Imagine the fear and disappointment to learn you have a relatively rare genetic condition that, at some point, could give you cancer.  It has to be devastating.  Some end up feeling defeated.  Others find inspiration and use the diagnosis as a launching point to help others.  A York Township man chose the latter.

Last winter's harsh weather left many states with limited natural gas supplies.  While Michigan wasn't among them, DTE Energy says it's planning a new pipeline to ensure a Michigan never runs short of natural gas.  It's called the Nexus Pipeline and will track right through Washtenaw County.

Legacy Land Conservancy is ensuring parts of York Township remain green for future generations.

The non-profit organization has signed an agreement with Kendall Rogers Farm that will preserve 159 acres of historic farm and forest land and prevent it from being sub-divided or developed for non-farming uses.

Legacy Land Conservancy's Executive Director Susan Lackey says conservation agreements like this one help ensure the community has enough farmland to remain sustainable for generations to come.

News that Toyota plans to move about 250 jobs from Kentucky to its Technical Center in York Township has township officials smiling.

Township Supervisor John Stanowski says his community will benefit from the new jobs, but so will Washtenaw County.  He says engineers like to live in nice homes, and that should help the housing industry.

"That's always good," Stanowski says, "because if the housing industry is booming that creates more jobs.  There's a trickling effect all the way down to the lumber yards providing the lumber, so it'll be good for the county as a whole".
