Potholes line roads throughout the area, but one particularly rough stretch will be the site of major improvements. Construction starts at the end of the month on the stretch of Ann Arbor Saline Road near I-94.
The Washtenaw County Road Commission is coordinating a rehab and repavement effort of Ann Arbor Saline between Eisenhower and Oak Valley Drive. Assistant Director of Engineering Matt MacDonell says more than just motorists will benefit from the project. The project will include bike lanes and a protected sidewalk for pedestrians on the east side of the bridge over I-94.
The project isn’t expected to increase or decrease the capacity of Ann Arbor Saline Road since the pedestrian features will be outside of the existing lanes. The project will be done in three phases with only northbound traffic maintained initially, all traffic being stopped at the bridge in the middle phase, and then only southbound traffic.
A public meeting on the project will be held March 25th at the Pittsfield Branch of the Ann Arbor District Library.
