Ann Arbor Little Caesars Store Brings Corprate Love Kitchen to Help Feed Homeless

Andrew Cluley

This has been a harsh winter for area homeless people and pushed shelters to capacity and beyond.

Major John Williams of the Washtenaw County Salvation Army says they are always looking for volunteers to provide a variety of services.  Williams thinks overall Washtenaw County is doing a good job, particularly in a couple of areas.

The Salvation Army has a food pantry available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Williams says this year they are seeing younger and more highly educated people looking for assistance.

Tuesday’s effort was aided by the Little Caesars mobile Love Kitchen and free pizza provided by the West Stadium Little Caesars store.  The store is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the same location and with the same owners and wanted to give back to the community.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
