Mayoral Forum Draws Crowd To Downtown Ypsilanti Library Branch

The three Ypsilanti mayoral candidates addressed a packed house Monday night at the downtown library branch.

Among the questions the candidates addressed at the public forum was how to tackle the Water Street debt that threatens to swamp the city's financial boat.

Former mayor and current city council member Pete Murdock said the city manager has an ambitious plan that includes re-financing bonds in a couple of years.

Community activist Tyrone Bridges said he would bring a circus or carnival to Water Street rather than let it sit empty.

And Growing Hope Executive Director Amanda Edmonds said the city needs to be proactive in finding developers for Water Street.

Ypsilanti voters will choose from among the three in next month's primary election.
