The Ann Arbor Sewing Center is currently serving as a hub for people interested in making masks for medical personnel in our area.
About 10,000 masks have been made during the last week to help protect healthcare workers from the coronavirus pandemic. Doni Houghtaling is co-owner of the sewing center and says hundreds of her customers and Facebook users are donating their time and quilting cotton to make the masks.
"The masks are reusable, they're washable, and they can also be sanitized"
Sewers are dropping off the masks at the sewing center, and then they're taken to locations, such as St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor and the VA Hospital. Visit the Ann Arbor Sewing Center's website for information on how you can help make masks.
