The coronavirus pandemic has forced Ypsilanti's city council to meet online instead of in-person.

Residents will be able to participate in public comment tonight via video conferencing or by calling a toll-free phone number.  Mayor Beth Bashert says one of the topics that will be discussed is how 44% of the positive coronavirus cases reported in the county come from Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township.  The Washtenaw County Health Department released the information last week.

"I have had extensive conversations with our County Administrator, Greg Dill, about some of the tactics that we're using. We need to ramp up some of the tactics to get the message out to people"

Bashert says some of those tactics include direct mail and phone trees to remind residents about the importance of staying at home.  Visit the city's website for information on how to log on to tonight's meeting.
