The coronavirus pandemic is impacting the way people handle their recycling.
Local non-profit Recycle Ann Arbor says it's seen an uptick in the amount of material it collects through its curbside collection service.
The organization’s Director of Strategy, Bryan Weinert, says they’re also getting lots of calls from people asking when and if the recycling center will reopen so they can drop off other materials.
“A lot of people are doing cleanup projects right now too, with an awful lot of time on their hands, so many people are getting around to projects that they’ve put off potentially for years and want a place to go with this stuff,” Weinert says.
Weinert says they’re also hoping to re-open their drop-off station on a limited basis in the near future.
