During Monday's December 7th Ann Arbor city council meeting, council will discuss a resolution that, if approved, will lead to the installation of fast-charging electric vehicle stations.
As part of a goal to reach community-wide carbon neutrality by the year 2030, the city is considering purchasing four fast charging electric vehicle stations to install along curbside parking at city hall. Missy Stults is the sustainability and innovations manager for the city and says that if the project is given the green light, the stations could be installed by next spring.
Missy Stults: The fast chargers can charge a vehicle, not completely full, but close to full in 20-30 minutes. Whereas a level two charger, something you would have in your home, would take roughly eight-hours.
The fast charging stations would cost about $173,000, but the city has already secured $170,000 in grants and rebates to help support this project. The city currently does not own any fast-charging stations.
