City Of Ann Arbor Offering Christmas Tree Disposal Service
Ann Arbor residents currently have four drop-off sites available to them to discard their Christmas trees.
The city has designated specific areas at Southeast Area Park, West Park, the Gallup Boat Launch parking lot, and Olson Park as drop-off sites from now until January 18th. Molly Maciejewski is the public works manager for the city and explains the drop-off process.
Molly Maciejewski: It’s totally unattended. You just drop it right off. Again, usually we get quite a pile going, and then we come around about once a week, and we take out what we can. But there’s generally always a pile.
The city is asking residents to make sure that all ornaments, lights and tree stands are removed before dropping off trees. The drop-off sites are offered because the city does not pick up Christmas trees as part of its regular curbside collection.
