Washtenaw County Commissioners will meet Wednesday night.
They're likely to approve a transfer of funds from the Washtenaw Community Health Initiative back into the county’s mental health department budget.
Commissioner Ronnie Peterson serves the county’s district 6. He says the transfer will not affect the department’s planned layoffs.
“We’ll be transferring money actually. The remaining dollars that were left into the balance of the mental health authority,"
Last month the board approved a treatment services budget that allowed the county to continue to offer mental health services.
Also on the agenda is a resolution naming Washtenaw County as a compassionate community.
Peterson says the designation is is symbolic of the county’s progress toward becoming a more diverse community. He says the resolution is to "send a message that we are a community of compassion. That we’re totally aware, knowledgeable, and invested to make sure that everyone is inclusive.”
The Board of Commissioners will meet Wednesday night at 6:45 PM at the county administration building in Ann Arbor.
