Stormwater Rate Study Underway

By Andrew Cluley

Ann Arbor, MI – A study underway this week could be the first step in addressing the big facility upgrades needed to manage storm water in Ann Arbor.
City council has approved a nearly 400-thousand dollar contract with Camp, Dresser, and McKee that will also develop and implement a stormwater rate structure.
City manager Roger Fraser says the changes in the stormwater system are expected to cost in the neighborhood of 400-million dollars.
Currently, all residential properties pay a flat fee for the stormwater system, and commercial properties pay a calculated hydrolic acreage rate.
Fraser says the goal of the study is to both create an equitable rate, and determine the operation and maintenance needs of the system.
