If you live in Ypsilanti's second ward and think you might like to serve in city government, now's your chance.  City Council is taking applications from people interested in filling the vacancy created by Susan Moeller's resignation.

City Clerk Frances McMullan says you'll need to provide some information, like proof of identity and that you've lived in the second ward for at least 30 days.

You can find an application on the city website, city of ypsilanti dot com.

"Applications are going to be due December 1st in the clerk's office, by five o'clock," McMullan says, "and I guess they (city council) basically discussed how they would vet the candidates."

City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, December 9th to interview the applicants.

The plan would be for council to appoint someone to the vacant position at its December 16th meeting.

The second ward encompasses the northwest corner of Ypsilanti.
