Major Kris Wood says the organization has a goal of raising half a million dollars for operations in Washtenaw County for 2016.
He says the Salvation Armymay not have reached the goal just yet, but he remains optimistic.
Wood says,
“We were at about $380,000 yesterday. That’s a lot of money. And mail is still coming in, online donations are still coming in. And the kettles are out until Christmas Eve.”
Wood says he believes the weather has been a factor. “People have said to us that it doesn’t feel like Christmas. It doesn’t feel like the holidays.", he says.
But despite the warm temperatures, Wood says people in Washtenaw County are still in need.
The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign will continue online until December 31st.
