To make sure drivers pay their parking tickets, the City of Ypsilantimay implement measures used by other cities in Washtenaw County.

Ypsilanti is now accepting parking ticket payments online and by phone.  But city clerk Frances McMullan says extra steps could be taken in the future if people don't pay their fines.

"One of the things we're looking at is if you have six unpaid parking tickets, we're looking at putting a flag on your plate, so that when you go to the Secretary of State's office, you won't be able to renew your license."

Those who use the new payment methods will be charged a service fee.  You can still make payments in person at the parking bureau
