ArtServe Michigan sees some reason to be happy with portions of the Governor's budget proposal.

Sarah Triplett is Director of Public Policy for ArtServe.  She says the Governor is proposing a $2,000,000 increase in funding for the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

The increase would bring the Council's total budget to just over $10,000,000, a 23 percent boost from the last fiscal year.

Triplett says the Governor is also proposing $25,000,000 in funding for the state's film incentive program - a fifty percent decrease from the last fiscal year.

Triplett says the Governor is starting to understand the way Michigan's economy is affected by the arts, culture and creative industries.
