Governor Gretchen Whitmer says details will be released soon on her plans to re-start parts of the state’s economy.  As we hear from Rick Pluta, Whitmer says she wants the plans to allow more activities to resume in phases.

Whitmer says she will look first to jobs and businesses that don’t require a lot of close, person-to-person contact.  She says the experience in different regions of the state could also be taken into account.  Whitmer says she wants to slowly ramp up gatherings and business activity and then see what works before taking the next step.  But, she says, some restrictions will have to remain in place.

“The odds are that everyone will resume life as normal are zero.”

Whitmer was part of alive webstream sponsored by The Washington Post.  She cautioned that any orders that allow more activities will be quickly reversed if there’s a surge in new COVID-19 cases now that Michigan is starting to see the curve flatten.
