Officials in Washtenaw County say they’re prepared for a potential emergency in light of an attack on Washington D.C. threatened by international militants.
Mark Breckenridge is director of emergency services for the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. He says the county’s first responders are always ready.
"Whether there’s a video out that says ‘we’re going to do this to Washington D.C. or...not of that really matters. We’re always preparing for natural hazards, technological hazards, and for acts of internationals and domestic terrorism. We’re always preparing.
Breckenridge says outdoor warning sirens are the primary way Washtenaw County residents will know if a dangerous situation has occurred. He suggests households should set aside three gallons of water for each person per day in case of an emergency.
