Phone Service Partially Restored

Ann Arbor officials say phone service has been restored to city offices this afternoon.

Earlier today, phone services in Ann Arbor City and some Washtenaw County offices were cut and employees were not able to make phone calls in or out.  Outages were also reported in Oakland, St. Clair, and Midland Counties as well as in the western Michigan city of Wyoming. Several other states were also experiencing problems, and it's not clear if service has been fully restored to all areas.

According to Ann Arbor’s Infrastructure Management Director, Gregory Dill, the problem was caused by  a severed fiber optic cable in Indiana.
