Domestic partners of Ypsilanti city employees will soon have the right to the same benefits that spouses of of city workers enjoy. WEMU's Bob Eccles has the details in the report below.
Ypsilanti City Council has adopted a resolution extending benefits to what it terms "Other Qualified Adults". Council member Pete Murdock pushed for the legislation. As for how much it'll cost the city to extend benefits to domestic partners, Murdock says that's not the point. He says it's an issue of fairness.
