The art moderne facade on Ann Arbor's Greyhound Bus Station will be preserved as the building is torn down for a new six story building. The plannning commission Tuesday night will consider the site plan for a nearly 90,000 square foot building at Huron and Ashley.
Planning Manager Wendy Rampson says the developer altered the design slightly after meeting with the Design Review Board. The changes are designed to have the front of the new building blend better with the art moderne facade of the bus station. The facade will be removed and stored during construction and then put back in essentially its current location.
The proposal calls for ground floor retail and restaurant space with a five story extended stay hotel on top.
The Planning Commission will also review plans for an addition and new main entrance for the Bank of Ann Arbor at Fifth and Washington.
