The Michigan Medical Marihuana Review Board Monday delayed any decision on adding autism to the list of conditions in which medical marijuana could be an approved treatment.
The board says it needed more time to study research on the possibility. Those who support the move say oil extracted from marijuana can help reduce severe anxiety and confusion that can lead to negative or destructive behavior in children diagnosed as autistic. In the past, the panel has declined to add autism to the approved list for marijuana use. The board will meet again at the end of the July.
