Voters in Ann Arbor's 5th Ward have decided to send Chip Smith to city council. Smith beat the incumbent, Mike Anglin by more than 300 votes.
There will be a change on Ann Arbor City Council come November. 5th Ward Incumbent Mike Anglin did not get enough votes to beat his opponent. Professional planner Chip Smith is a step closer to becoming an member of Ann Arbor City Council. Voters in the 5th Ward gave Smith a margin of victory of more than 300 votes. Smith celebrated the victory at the Arbor Brewing Company where he said, voters are tired of seeing a divided city council.
Anglin's term will end after the November General election. Smith does not face a challenger in the November election, effectively winning a two-year term on council with Tuesday night's victory.
