A University of Michigan researcher is back from Paris Climate Change Conference this week. Paul Edwards says the increasing affordability of renewable technology will help make a new climate treaty possible.
Edwards says what’s different about this year’s conference on climate change is the focus on the amount of money businesses lose due to global warming.
“What I hope to see happen is that we’ll get a pretty strong agreement, that certainly won’t go far enough, but will signal to the world that we’re ready to take this seriously and move ahead.”
He says recent projects from Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg show that the business world is taking the risk of climate change seriously. World leaders will continue work on an emissions agreement until Friday in Paris.
