Eastern Michigan University will welcome the prominent civil rights attorney Barbara Arnwine to campus Monday.

Arnwinehas worked to pass numerous civil and human rights bills in the U.S., including the renewal of the Voting Rights Act in 2006 and the Civil Rights Act of 1991. She’ll be the keynote speaker at Eastern Michigan University's Martin Luther KingJr. Day Celebration

She says her lifelong fight for equality has been inspired by King’s dream of a diverse, economically open, and just society for all.

She says,

“Until we do that, we have not embraced King’s dream. We have not fulfilled his legacy justice. We are not living up to the creed of the dream.”

Arnwine will speak at 11:30 this morning at the Student Center Ballroom on EMU’s  campus.
