January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month.  Eastern Michigan University says it's more prevalent than you might think, here in our own state.

In the last two years, 300 cases have been reported in Michigan.  WashtenawCounty has not been the exception to the list of cases.

Ellen LassiterCollier, who is the Women's Resource Coordinator at EMU says interstate highways and the Canadian border crossing make Michigan a target.  She added that sex trafficking is more common in urban areas while labor trafficking is mostly seen in rural parts of Michigan.

You should report human trafficking to your local law enforcement agency.
