In the past, the city of Ann Arbor has actively tried to regulate Uber and similar transportation companies. That may be the case again after the suspect in the Kalamazoo shootings was identified as an Uber driver.
The city went as far as to issue cease and desist letters to Uber and Lyft back in 2014, but they got ignored.
City council member ChuckWarpehoskifrom the 5th ward comments on the Kalamazoo shootings.
"For me, it's a question of sensible gun laws. It's not a question of Uber or Lyft or whatever, because he could have been in whatever profession, using his profession that drew him to kill with easy access to firearms."
Regulations for ride sharing services are being discussed in Lansing.
