A University of Michigan program aimed at helping students in Ypsilanti and Southfield prepare for college is off to a promising start.
The Wolverine Pathways program offers 120 students each year a chance to work with mentors and learn about a variety of subjects. Those who finish it are offered a full, 4-year tuition scholarship to U-M.
Rob Jagers is the program's executive director.
"It's been a good response from students and family. School districts are excited about the possibility of having those benefits for some of their most promising young people."
Jagers says they've already received over 300 applications for this year.
