The LPGAVolvikChampionship in Ann Arbor is expected to boost the local economy.

Golfers from around the world are practicing their swing at the Travis Pointe Country Club.  144 of them will compete during the tournament that runs through Sunday.  All the activities are expected to pump $20 million into Washtenaw County's economy.

Tournament director Keith Karbo says the event is using local vendors for everything from catering to printing.

"They could be companies like A-1 Rental. It could be the place where we're securing our food products and our printing. We have a lot of needs."

Over 40,000 people are expected to attend the tournament.  The Volvik Championship has joined forces with DTE Energy to allow all military veterans and active duty personnel to attend the tournament with a guest at no cost during the entire week.
